IMDO aims to be one of the key actors in the global migration governance system before the states of the world. It seeks to reduce the economic and social pressures of international migration on development through civil society initiatives, to cooperate with national and international organizations in combating human smuggling and trafficking, and to establish international partnerships in the context of migration, remittances, and development. IMDO also strives to promote cooperation on migration and development at national, regional, and international levels.

One of its core objectives is to transform the labor force and human resources emerging as a result of migration into employable and entrepreneurial capacities by providing vocational and skills-based training, as well as by establishing Business Development Centers dedicated to professional education.

Furthermore, IMDO organizes national and international forums on migration and development, aiming to integrate the labor force generated by migration into development processes through lobbying, policy-making, economic, legal, and social science activities, as well as through strategies at national, regional, and international levels. IMDO positions itself as an independent civil society organization working within these fields.

The Association’s mission also includes facilitating migration across countries and within the Turkic world, and addressing the demand for impartial, accurate, and sufficient information to help channel the unused labor force created by migration into employment and the economy. To achieve this, IMDO establishes forums, facilities, and organizations, and responds not only to the requests of public and private institutions, companies, and media organizations but also to individual demands.

Another important objective of IMDO, in line with the principles of effectiveness and efficiency, is to mobilize national, international, and local resources and institutions while ensuring the active involvement of stakeholders, in order to use the labor, trade, investment, and financial resources arising from migration for the development of countries.

IMDO also aims to collect and carefully select the necessary information on migration required by countries and Turkey, and to provide the right type and quality of information at the right time to those in need. In the same framework, the evaluation and analysis of information are also among IMDO’s purposes and responsibilities.

Another important mission of IMDO is to cultivate qualified experts in the field of migration and development and to provide training services. For this purpose, it organizes international training and internship programs, as well as courses, seminars, and conferences.

Finally, IMDO seeks to bridge the communication gap between experts and practitioners, and to establish itself as a platform in the field. To this end, it organizes Internet TV broadcasts, journalism initiatives, closed meetings, workshops, seminars, and other events, while also publishing materials that contribute to its role as a platform.
